The Portsea collection represents our modern take on the classic 'Deck Watch' timepiece style, which is traditionally characterised by clean white dials and arabic numerals enclosed by 'railroad' minute markers.
The Portsea collection features a multi-layered dial with a unique molded ceramic main disc.
The Portsea is powered by the Miyota Cal. 9122 'triple calendar' automatic movement with date, day and month functions.
All of our watches are fitted with premium sapphire glass to prevent scratching under most circumstances.
The multi-layered dial features a unique moulded ceramic main disc which gives the Portsea a sense of depth and detail, capped off by classic blue hands with our signature "M" counter-balance.
The Portsea is completed by surgical grade 316L stainless steel casing, an anti-reflective sapphire crystal lens and robust leather straps.
The Portsea is powered by the Miyota Calibre 9122 'triple calendar' automatic mechanical movement with day, date and month functions.
The Cal. 9122 also features a 40 hour power reserve and a higher 28,800bph beat rate for a smoother sweep of the second hand.
Deck watches were popular among navy and merchant sailors in the early 20th century, particularly in WW1.
They were originally made as pocket watches with hand-wound mechanical movements and were the successor to the original 'marine chronometer' style sea-clocks of the 18th century, which mariners used to calculate longitude by means of celestial navigation.
