A Watch Company Made In Melbourne

Headquartered in the heart of Melbourne, the team at Melbourne Watch Company is doing much more than building a watch brand...

We all know our smartphones are the go-to device for just about every question under the sun. But can they answer this one?

Why do so many men prefer to wear a classic watch when the fluorescent screen in their pocket does the job perfectly well?

The short answer is this. While the classic wristwatch is no longer a necessity, it remains the fundamental accessory for the modern man.

The look of it, the feel of it, nothing heightens the confidence and charisma of a well-dressed man like the addition of a beautiful watch.

It is for this exact reason that we at the Melbourne Watch Company love the appeal of classic looking timepieces.

We’re a watch company with a big difference

Over recent years there’s been a real emergence of new watch brands, especially many operating solely online. Some have been successful, some not.

Five years and 10 collections later, we believe we’ve come pretty far. And we like to think that a big part of our success is the fact that we’re an actual Australian-based watch company.

Five years and 10 collections later, we believe we’ve come pretty far.

As Australia doesn’t have a history of watchmaking, people often ask us what this means.

As a local watch company, we do much more than just import watches or components. From concept through to design, assembly and testing, each stage is managed in-house by our Melbourne team.

Assembled In Melbourne

One of our founding goals was to build a strong connection with our home city.

In 2017 we took a big leap forward by investing in the setup of our own workshop at our Carlton headquarters, along with hiring a watchmaking team.

This now allows us to assemble our watches in-house and has given us the opportunity to be officially certified as Australian Made.

We currently source our movements from industry leading Swiss and Japanese suppliers and maintain the long term goal of pursuing local manufacturing as we continue to grow.

Real advantages for our customers

We’ve found being a local watch company has some real and distinct advantages for our customers.

First and foremost, assembling locally in Melbourne allows us to have greater control over the quality of each of our watches.

We also have a showroom in Melbourne’s CBD, where we welcome our customers to join us for a coffee and see all our watches close-up.

Visitors can also see our attached workshop, where we do all our assembly, testing and servicing.

This means that we also offer in-house after sales support to complete the customer experience, regardless of where you are.

Why do we do what we do?

We choose to do so much of our work locally because firstly, we possess the skills to do so and secondly, we absolutely love working with watches.

By carrying out much of the work in our Melbourne headquarters we help support and grow the local watch industry.

As an added bonus, by designing and assembling our watches in Melbourne we are able to label them Australian Made, a status we are very proud of.

We are very optimistic that this is leading somewhere truly exciting.

It all comes back to our founding vision - We don't just want to sell watches, we want to make them.

We don't just want to sell watches, we want to make them.

That’s the Melbourne Watch Company story. In essence we’re building a watch company from the ground up.

We are not just a watch brand that only exists online. We are a hands-on-business dedicated to growing Australia’s love of watches and this country’s watch industry.
